My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. However, I found the room itself to be somewhat outdated and not quite what I expected, especially with issues like the toilet flush not working properly. The breakfast was decent, though the dining experience could use some improvement.
Rooms
5.0
I found my room spacious, but it felt dated and had issues like a blocked toilet and peeling wallpaper. It was quite hot at night, and the windows seemed unsafe to open.
Service
8.0
The staff members were friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to assist when I needed help, especially at check-in.
Location
8.0
The hotel’s location was great, being close to the city center and local attractions, making it convenient for exploring Newcastle's nightlife.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast offered a good variety, though the service was slow and there were issues with replenishing food items. I enjoyed the cooked gluten-free options when they were available.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel provided necessary facilities, but some areas, like bathroom fixtures, seemed in need of maintenance.

6.6/10
My stay had notable highlights but also several drawbacks. The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome. However, I faced significant issues with my assigned room's distance from the lift, and breakfast service was chaotic with insufficient food replenishment and cleanliness. Overall, it wasn't the experience I had hoped for, especially considering my mobility needs.
Rooms
5.0
The room was a reasonable size, but I was placed in one far from the lift despite requesting a more accessible room. It was also quite hot as the windows only opened slightly. I would rate the functioning facilities as good, but the location of my room was quite inconvenient.
Service
5.0
While the staff were friendly and keen to help, my requests regarding room placement were not fulfilled effectively. Upon reporting issues, I found the follow-up from management lacking, which did not enhance my stay.
Location
6.0
The hotel had good proximity to the city center and a bus stop right outside, which I appreciated. However, the overall noise from the surroundings, especially from the bar below, affected my comfort.
Dining
5.0
Dining was disappointing, particularly breakfast. The self-serve setup was messy and lacking various items each day. Despite some decent meal options, the overall quality and service fell short of expectations.
Facilities
5.0
While some amenities in the room were well thought out, the chaotic breakfast environment and lack of attention to replenishment were significant downsides. Also, the shower had temperature issues, which made it unsafe for someone with mobility challenges.

I had a pretty good experience at Caledonian Hotel, with its friendly staff and comfy beds really standing out. However, there were a few hiccups with the room's maintenance and parking situation that brought my rating down a bit. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would consider coming back, especially since the breakfast was a highlight for me.
Rooms
7.0
My room was spacious and had nice tea facilities, but it felt a bit dated and could use a makeover, especially the bathroom.
Service

The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful, especially when it came to ordering taxis and sorting out a mix-up with my booking.
Location
8.0
The hotel was in a great spot, close to local restaurants and an easy walk to the city center, which I loved. Plus, it was nice to have immediate car parking available.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was really good with lots of tasty options that set me up for the day, though the first service was a bit chaotic. The second day was better, though.
Facilities
6.0
While my amenities included coffee and snacks, the parking situation was a mess, making it a hassle when I had to move my car for other guests.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at the Caledonian Hotel. While the staff were remarkably friendly and accommodating, I found the hotel's maintenance left much to be desired. The cleanliness of my room was not up to par, and the atmosphere was often disrupted by noise from the street outside. Overall, it was a decent place, but I expected more given the price I paid.
Rooms
5.0
The room I had was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. However, I encountered issues like stained carpets and signs of wear that made the ambiance feel a bit run down.

The staff were friendly and accommodating during my stay, which helped ease some of the frustrations I experienced with parking and room cleanliness.

The hotel's location is quite convenient, close to Jesmond and the city center, making it easy to explore local attractions, though the noise from the busy street at times detracted from my experience.
Dining
6.0
I enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which had a nice variety. However, my experience in the bar wasn't as positive as I struggled with service issues during certain peak times.
Facilities

Facilities at the hotel were acceptable, though the parking situation needs improvement; the limited spaces available caused significant inconvenience.

5.6/10
I recently stayed at the Caledonian Hotel for the second time, and it was excellent once again. I opted for an executive room which was spacious and had a wonderfully comfortable bed (definitely a highlight for me!). However, the dining experience was lacking this time as the dining room was under refurbishment, and the breakfast was served in a smaller drawing room. While the cooked breakfast was great, the atmosphere was a bit off compared to my previous visit, where the buffet breakfast was fantastic.
Rooms
9.0
The executive room was massive and had a comfortable bed, making for a great night's sleep. However, the decor was a bit quirky, especially the bright, multi-colored carpet that felt out of place.
Service
10.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from check-in to check-out. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs, and their warm demeanor truly enhanced my stay.
Location
9.0
The hotel is ideally situated in Jesmond, close to the metro and bus routes, making it convenient for exploring the city. Plus, there are many nearby bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Dining
7.0
Although the dining room was under refurbishment, the quality of the breakfast served was excellent, especially the cooked items. However, I missed the buffet experience from my earlier stay.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel was clean and well-stocked, with good amenities in the room. However, the lack of a well-functioning restaurant for quiet dining was a downside for me.
